My project had, in a sense, a sister-project--a project that would collaborate in design with my own. Both models were to interact with a site model that would allow for the two models to showcase one another.

Solo view of my final design embedded into the site model. Various aspects of my model can be found in the site model, such as stepping formations to mimic my circulation, and planes extruded to heights related to in my construct.

Two separate sections, rendered in Adobe Illustrator, cut through the internal masses to showcase the circulation system.

Since this model was a combo of reality and concept, real architectural moves were made at conceptual scale, ie. landings at 6' height difference were an acceptable means of circulation.

After a complex system of internal circulation, an exterior view point acts as a climactic finish to the enclosed circulation.

Process Board

Process Board

A presentation board compiling the process which i took to arrive at my final design. Pictured: various diagrams, precedent analysis (Skirkanich Hall), as well as relation to the previous project, the Puzzle Box.

The vertical study was an exercise in which I had to work within set guidelines while still developing concepts in architecture. The project was to facilitate circulation within a box-like exterior, which could only be manipulated as much as I could be pushed in or out. My project's facade was a system of juxtaposing slots and push ins which highlighted interior spaces from the outside. The circulation system is facilitated by the carved massing within, which are composed of large steps for people to climb up onto. The stick system, which represents structure, is completely hidden by the facade, making the building seem lighter than it actually is. The final result was an interconnected system of architectural concepts that worked together to create vertical circulation. Drawings done in Adobe Illustrator.
